Frequently Asked Questions…

1.         How often will I receive a billing statement and when is payment due?

Membership account statements are generated monthly and include all charges and payments from the first day of the month to the last day of the month. Payment is due by the last day of the month. For example, the June 30 statement will itemize all charges and payments made to the account from June 1 to June 30. The statement is processed and mailed out by July 6 with payment due by July 31. Balances that are over 30 days past due are subject to a 1.5% finance charge.

2.         How does the food and beverage minimum work?

Members have three months to spend their required quarterly food and beverage minimums (1st quarter: January-March, 2nd quarter: April-June, 3rd quarter: July-September, 4th quarter: October-December). You can use Fox Valley’s member grille room, the pool cabana, the beverage cart on the golf course, Fox Valley social events or your own events booked through Fox Valley’s banquet services office. Only charges for food and beverages apply towards meeting your minimum requirement. Charges that do NOT apply are: sales tax, tips or service charges, gift certificate purchases, cigars/cigarettes, golf tournaments or ANY purchases made at Brierwood, Tan Tara, or any Arnold Palmer managed facility.

3.         Will my monthly statement address the minimum spending?

Yes, in the bottom left corner of the statement, a minimum spending statement will appear. On the statements for the first two months of the quarter, the amount left to spend will be shown. On the statement for the last month of the quarter, the amount to meet for the next quarter will be shown.

4.         If circumstances require, how do I resign my membership?

All resignations must be sent IN WRITING, VIA CERTIFIED MAIL, to The Fox Valley Club membership services office 30 days prior to the first of the month of your desired date of resignation. Members are responsible for all charges within that 30-day period. For example, to resign effective December 1, Fox Valley must receive the written resignation via certified mail before October 31. A resignation in November would not be effective until January 1. Resignations will only be accepted for the first of the month.

Please note that the dues cycle runs from April 1st to March 31st. Members are liable for the entire annual dues regardless of resignation effective date.

5.         What is the policy on tipping at Fox Valley?

Grill Room: When dining off the lunch or dinner menus, or having cocktails in the Grill Room there is not an added service fee or gratuity added to your checks. The Grill Room servers and bartenders work for their tips that they receive directly from the members. A minimum of 15% is recommended.

Beverage carts: The beverage cart has an automatic 15% added on each check. Additional tipping is welcomed but not expected.

Pool Cabana: Food & Beverage items that are ordered have an automatic 15% added on each check. Additional tipping is welcomed but not expected.

Banquet functions: When a member hosts or sponsors a private party at the club, a 20% taxable service charge is automatically added to the banquet bill upon the completion of an event.

Member events: When attending club parties such as the Super Bowl, St. Valentine’s Ball, Sunday Brunch, or any other similar event, you’ll see the price listed as ++ (example: $14.95++). The ++ means that it is $14.95 without a service charge and tax that will be automatically added to your bill. Additional tipping is not necessary. The servers that work these events along with banquets receive a different pay scale from that service charge

Bag Room & Shoe Room: Tipping of the bag room & shoe room staff is at the discretion of the members and guests. However, we encourage tipping of those bag room & shoe room employees who display an exceptional level of service and courtesy, helping members and guest to further enjoy their golfing experience.

Professional Golf Staff: The professional golf staff is not expected to receive tips.

Should you have any questions about this tipping policy, please do not hesitate to contact a department manager.
