A Young Course with a Storied Past
The Fox Valley Club's exceedingly popular and challenging golf course has helped it rise in popularity among area golfers since the 18-hole 6,603-yard course opened in 1992-93. With its magnificent clubhouse rising out of the hills in Lancaster, New York, Fox Valley offers its members and their guests lavish amenities and first class service, including full-service dining and meeting rooms, pool, tennis, driving range and putting green. From the moment they arrive, slowly winding alongside the 18th hole, Fox Valley Members benefit from a very enjoyable golf and social experience at one of the region's newest private country clubs.
The beauty and potential of the land where the Fox Valley Club now resides, was once the vision of Albert Wende back in the 1930's, when Wende acquired acres of land to build a summer home. The mansion Mr. Wende built upon this breaktaking land (now the location of the newly built Fox Valley clubhouse) was a mirror image of the Bahamian mansion of Harry Oates, Wende's best friend. The replication of the design was unique because it was in Oates's mansion in the Bahamas where the mafia later murdered Mr. Oates.
Prior to the sale of the Lancaster, NY land around 1945 to Dr. Fahey and his family, Wende built a cabin for his daughter and her children to use as a summer home. This original cabin still remains on the Fox Valley property and is now used as offices.
In 1990, following the death of her husband, Helen Fahey sold the estate to Fox Valley Associates founded by Tim Davis and his wife, Marlene Brodzik, a South Florida golf star. Mr. Davis designed the exsisting golf course and began construction in 1991. The first 9 holes were completed in 1992 when the Fox Valley Club celebrated its commencement. In 1993, the second nine holes were completed.
In the fall of 1994, the Paloma Golf Group purchased the Fox Valley Club. Paloma built the clubhouse where the pre-exsiting Wende Mansion stood. In the fall of 1997, Arnold Palmer Golf Management purchased the Fox Valley Club and proudly maintains the property for its valued, private membership.
